Questions Asked in SSC CGL Tier I Exam 29th August, in Shift 1 – General Awareness

Most of the questions were asked from static GK and very few were from current affairs. Most of you have reportedly found this section tough. Here are some questions:
  1. Who was the first women Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh? – Sucheta Kriplani
  2. What is sullage water treatment process?
    Ans: The sullage is treated by coagulation, filtration and disinfection and then pumped to an overhead tank for toilet flushing and gardening. Thus reducing the requirement of fresh water by 60%.
  3. When does the President address the parliament?
    Ans: At the commencement of 1st session after general election to the Lok Sabha and at the commencement of the 1st session of each year.
  4. What is the purest form of carbon? – Diamond
  5. What is the other name of world bank? – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
  6. When sodium bicarbonate is heated strongly what is the product? – Sodium carbonate, water vapor and carbon dioxide gas.
  7. Why do stars twinkle but not planets?
    Ans: Because planets are closer to earth than stars so the light coming from planets does not bend much due to Earth’s atmosphere.
  8. Who is the author of “Playing it my way”? – Sachin Tendulkar
  9. Where is Dilwara temple located? – Mount Abu, Rajasthan
  10. What is the “Indradanush Scheme” related to? – Revamping of state-run banks.
  11. Who is the present coach of Indian cricket team? – Anil Kumble
Apart from the above questions, some other topics like ‘executive powers of the President’, ‘special oscar award recipient’, etc. were also touched.
